June Theology Think Tank

Why do so many young people drop out of faith and what can families, churches and youth and children's ministries do about it? Since 2020, Al James has been thinking about, talking about, writing about and researching faith that lasts beyond high school. This think tank will be a great opportunity to wrestle with the youth ministry and church practices that, under God, correlate with lasting faith - drawing especially on recent research using 2021 NCLS data.

Book Launch - Australian Evangelical Perspectives on Youth Ministry

Book Launch - Australian Evangelical Perspectives on Youth Ministry

This book is a unique contribution to the study of children's and youth ministry, displaying the rich theological thinking that is developing amongst Australian evangelical scholars. Many of the writers have previously presented at the Youthworks "House" conference, which promotes "theological reflection for best practice in youth and children's ministry in a community of youth and children's ministers."

The themes explored in this book are vitally important to pastors seeking to nurture young people as disciples of Jesus. Thirteen evangelical scholars answer questions such as: How can biblical theology shape a young person's view of themselves? What is the biblical definition of church and how does this shape our understanding of intergenerational gatherings, family, and community? How should young Christians interact with the culture around them? And how do biblical teachings on sin, grace, and wisdom provide young people with the resources to live in today's world?

You will be challenged to reconsider how theology and exegetical study of the Bible can mold your priorities, principles, and presumptions as you exercise ministry to and with young people.

Theology Think Tank and Children’s Ministry Masterclass

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY MASTERCLASS & YOUTHWORKS COLLEGE THINK TANK | 11 MAY

We’re excited to be hosting Ed Drew from Faith In Kids UK for two events on Thursday 11th May.

• Children's Ministry Masterclass – 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm

Topic: Raising Confident Kids in a Confusing World

“Who am I? Who is the real me? How can I tell?”

It is not only teenagers and adults who are asking these questions, but the children in our families and church ministries as well. In this Masterclass workshop, Ed Drew will take us through the importance of instilling in children their primary identity in Christ, and how that impacts the tricky questions that children are facing in our culture around friendship, sex and gender.

Who should attend? This workshop event is specifically designed for vocational Children’s Ministers and other ministry staff who want to help children and their families grow in their identity in Christ and how that expresses itself in the world.

• Networking opportunity - 4:30-5:30pm - Light refreshments served

• Youthworks College Theology Think Tank – 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm DINNER INCLUDED

Topic: Church and Family - Partners in Children’s Faith Formation

The effective passing down of faith to the next generation occurs in partnership between a household that intentionally engages in faith-formative practices with young people, and a community of believers who engage in reciprocal relationships between the generations. In this seminar, Ed Drew will walk through key insights from recent research into faith transmission and how church leaders can be facilitating effective discipleship of young people in the church and the home.

Who should attend? This lecture style event is for Children’s and Youth Ministers and other ministry staff to help us think through how the partnership between households and local churches can best work together to grow the faith of young people.

We get to encourage each other, learn together, grow together, and be equipped for ministry together. But the best thing I have loved about college is how I have grown personally; not just my knowledge, but in my love for God - for who He is and for all that He has done. It really has been so so great and can't recommend it enough!" - Jamie Post 2nd year student.
